ABOUTme!
Hi, I'm Delia. I'm a veterinary general practitioner, just like you, and I've been in practice for 25 years. There have definitely been times when I questioned my choice of career. I have burned out a couple of times, had a change to working for a pharmaceutical company (then came back to vetting). I've been a locum, and I've done emergency work. I've been in the practices that back-to-back you all day with 10 minute consults! And for a long time I struggled with what being a vet meant, and how I could love it and hate it at the same time. I finally found my true vet love..... DERMATOLOGY!
In July 2021 I passed the RCVS Advanced Veterinary Practitioner Certificate in Veterinary Dermatology. BUT.... I am still a general practitioner. 95% of my work is allergies and ears - and that's what I love doing. I finally discovered that you CAN do a good consultation, build client relationships, cuddle pets and do good evidence-based medicine in general practice! And enjoy being a vet!
